I believe there is no such thing as coincidence; everything happens according to your destiny. What is meant for you will find its way, no matter the circumstances, and the same applies the other way around. If something isn’t meant for you, no matter how hard you try to hold onto it, you will always feel like something is missing.
In 2025, the Prayagraj Mahakumbh was on everyone's mind, and it was my biggest wish too—to visit and take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. I made every effort to make it happen, but nothing worked out. I didn’t have the courage to go alone amidst such a massive crowd. After exhausting all options, I finally gave up on that idea and started planning a simpler solo trip for my birthday. Visiting Ujjain Mahakal and seeking the blessings of my Lord seemed like the perfect choice. So, I booked my round-trip flight tickets to Indore.
But the divine had other plans, and Prayagraj was waiting for me with open arms. A simple mistake led me in a completely new direction towards the Mahakumbh. On the morning of 15th February, at 6 AM, as I was about to enter the lounge, I met an elderly man who said something to me, but I couldn’t hear him clearly. I sensed he might need help, so I asked if he was flying to Indore. He said yes, and we had a brief two-minute conversation. Without realizing it, I directed him the wrong way.
Unaware of the mistake, I entered the lounge, had my breakfast, pulled out my book, and started reading. When it was time to board, I left the lounge and started walking in the opposite direction of my gate. About five minutes later, I realized the blunder I had made and began to worry whether the old man had managed to find the right gate.As I hurried towards the gate, I hoped he had managed to find the correct one and that I wouldn't cross paths with him again, as it would be incredibly embarrassing.
But there he was, right in the middle of my path, arms crossed, staring at me as he began speaking. I immediately felt a deep sense of regret and apologized for the mistake. He then shared how he had been feeling while walking, feeling of hypoglycemia, as he hadn’t eaten in a while, and mentioned he was traveling from the USA to India. As soon as he said "hypoglycemia," I remembered I had picked up a juice tetra pack for him earlier, which I had intended to give him but had forgotten in the midst of my realization. I offered it to him, and we began talking about diabetes and the pain areas and adjustments that come with it. It turned out, we were both in the same boat when it came to this.
Boarding began, and as we walked, he asked about the purpose of my journey and whether I was staying in Indore. I shared that it was for my birthday, and I planned to spend a few days in Ujjain seeking blessings. He then asked why I wasn’t traveling to the Mahakumbh and suggested that if it suited me, we could go together. At that moment, I was torn. There was a strong urge to visit the holy city, but with a stranger? I needed some time to think, so I simply said, “Let’s talk once we land in Indore.” My mind raced the entire time, and when I finally landed, I started looking for him but couldn’t find him anywhere. I assumed it was just a casual conversation, and maybe he had already left, so I headed off to book a cab to Ujjain.
Just then, I heard someone calling my name from behind. There he was. We sat down together and started planning the Prayagraj trip. As we discussed the details, one question kept running through my mind: Is this safe? Should I just say no? However, his next statement made me reconsider. He said, "If I’m going, my sister will come with me, along with her husband and my other sister too." Suddenly, it felt like the whole family was involved. He called his sister to discuss the plan, and both sisters agreed to join us. A sense of relief and safety washed over me.
After finalizing our plan for Prayagraj, I continued my journey to Ujjain and had a divine darshan of Mahakal. I stayed there until the evening and then reached Indore by 7 PM. Our journey to Prayagraj began at 7:30 PM on Saturday from Indore. After around 16 hours of driving, we finally reached Prayagraj, where we took a holy dip without any hassle. The arrangements in the Tent City Payagraj were excellently organized, and the people were incredibly kind, always ready to help and guide us whenever needed. We ended up walking around 10 kilometers throughout the day. We started our return journey to Indore at 8 PM on Sunday night.
I celebrated my birthday with Uncle and his family in Indore on Monday, and they made it truly special. I’m not sure if our paths will cross again, but those three days were unforgettable, and I truly believe they were divine blessings. I was meant to be at Prayagraj. Thank you, Uncle and Aunty, for making my birthday so memorable. Your entire family will always have a special place in my heart. I took the blessing of the entire family and started my journey back home from Indore. I pray to god that, our path should cross again and now that they are no longer strangers, we can plan the next trip.
A big thank you to both of the drivers for making this trip safe and enjoyable. We also had a great time listening to the beautiful songs sung by one of the drivers.
A miraculous trip to the Mahakumbh, a memory to cherish for a lifetime, and a blessing to the soul. A lifelong wish fulfilled, with a heart full of gratitude.
Har Har Mahadev !
